The Sisters of Mercy (Parramatta) came to Cronulla in 1924 and bought the first of two properties where they built their residence and convent, which they named “Stella Maris”. During the years they would bathe within a small rock formation in front of Stella Maris. A concrete wall was later built which became their sea pool. Although the pool is not officially noted on any maps, thousands of local people collectively know its name as “The Nuns’ Pool”.

Evidence of the concrete wall can still be seen today, and a new and splendid Stella Maris nursing home and hostel stands before this historic “Nuns’ Pool.”

The Nuns’ Pool restaurant has a relaxed and casual atmosphere, close to the beach; you can chose to sit inside or outside on the patio. The menus are fresh and seasonal with good variety to suit most diners. The lunch menu features lighter style meals inspired by European and Mediterranean cuisine. The dessert menu features daily baked cakes as well as muffins and slices.

The Nuns’ Pool is also available for intimate weddings or other functions. They will design a fresh and seasonal menu specially for your occasion.

Connoisseur Club Members are welcome for 25% off the total bill, to a maximum of $35.
