Price: Wines from $12 to $155

Wirra Wirra Vineyards is situated 4km from the township of McLaren Vale; the area has become one of Australia’s most highly regarded and accessible wine regions, just 45 minutes by car from Adelaide, the state capital.

Its Mediterranean climate provides the region with a unique ability to produce consistent, richly complex and long lived wines from classic grape varieties, Shiraz in particular.

Open 7 days a week, the Wirra Wirra cellar door is a warm and friendly place. Guests are welcomed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic members of the Wirra Wirra tribe, committed to enriching both the Wirra Wirra and McLaren Vale experience. Visitors are invited to taste through the current vintage wines as well as a range of small volume releases exclusive to Cellar Door. This range is bottled under the Sparrow’s Lodge label and are special parcels of wine that the winemakers have identified as exceptional and therefore worthy of bottling separately.

With a glass in hand, a cheese platter can be enjoyed while taking a moment to absorb the beauty of the Scrubby Rise and Woodhenge vineyards. There is a range of toys and games to keep the little ones amused, while Mum and Dad get down to the serious business of tasting wine.

Connoisseur Club Members are welcome for 10% off all wine purchases.

Contacted and posed as a member on 16/8/17. Spoke to a Chris at the cellar door, who mentioned that he had not heard from us for 4 to 5 years. He wanted to know what the Club offered, and after I told him, he that if I joined as a member with them, that he could give me a better offer. I said that I would think about it. He would still honour the card though.
