Price: Wines from $22

The Punt Road winery is located in the heart of the Yarra Valley and is amazing and smart, just like their wines. The Yarra Valley winery was named after the famous Melbourne inner city thoroughfare that joins the northern suburbs to the south. The inspiration came from a photograph from 1856, which shows Punt Road as it meets the Yarra River; the only way across the river was via the punt, hence the road’s name.

In 1987, the Napoleone Vineyard was planted in Coldstream. Since then they have planted various sites around the Yarra Valley to wine grapes. Initially, fruit was sold to various producers around the Valley, but in 1999 a modern winery was built on the Napoleone Vineyard site in Coldstream. The Punt Road range was then released to the market in 2001 with great success. Joe and Michael Napoleone have been living and working in the Yarra Valley all their lives. Varieties of grapes planted on their vineyards include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, small plantings of Petit Verdot, Viognier and Cabernet Franc. The Punt Road cellar door provides a warm and friendly environment for a complete and relaxing wine-tasting experience.

Punt Road Wines invite you to make the journey to see their vineyards, meet the super savvy staff, taste the wines, and kick off your shoes in the back garden.
