Rise above the beautiful Avon Valley, there is nothing ordinary about it!

Windward Balloon Adventures offers guests the enchanting experience of a deluxe sunrise balloon flight over the picturesque Avon Valley. Your adventure begins just before sunrise in the departure lounge of the Windward ballooning hangar at the Northam Airfield. Guests are then transferred out to the launch site on board the Windward bus. At the launch site it’s all hands on deck as the pilot and ground crew unload the basket and inflate the balloon.

Once aboard the balloon, your pilot will run through vital in-flight Information, then after waiting for some final happy snaps and a quick wave to the ground crew, the balloon is released and you drift gently towards the clouds. Once aloft, enjoy the spectacle of the valley for up to an hour, allowing you plenty of time to take in the panoramic views of this rural landscape with its rolling hills, lush green fields and meandering streams.

The balloon baskets are luxuriously padded with additional side and floor cushioning for your comfort and safety; and the balloon burners are designed from the latest technology, making them more powerful and considerably quieter than other burner systems. Owner and Chief Pilot Damien Hays has logged more than 2,300 hours flying balloons over the Avon Valley during the past 20 years, making him the Avon’s most experienced pilot. He knows the Valley like the back of his hand so he’ll be sure to provide you with the best flight path possible.

After disembarking, it’s all hands on deck once again as you discover the art of repacking the balloon before being taken to Riversedge Cafe to celebrate your experience in style with a sumptuous breakfast, champagne and certificate of flight presentation by your Pilot.

Windward operate flights over the Avon Valley from April to late November. Regrettably the hot and windy summer weather in Western Australia is not safe for ballooning. During the season, they schedule flights every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at dawn with no minimum number of passengers required. On Tuesday and Wednesday they will schedule a flight once they have sufficient interest (minimum numbers apply).
